Getting to know
Dr. Barun Kumar
Dr. Barun Kumar is a consultant urologist currently practising in Guwahati. He specializes in endourology, laparoscopic surgery, urethral reconstruction surgery, andrology and renal transplant.
He has completed his MBBS from the prestigious Medical College Kolkata in the year 2012 following which he has completed his MS in General Surgery in the year 2016 from IPGME&R, Kolkata. He was awarded UMA RANI SAHA gold medal in the year 2016. He was also awarded as zonal winner and national 3rd rank holder in TYSA young scholar award.
Furthermore, he joined as MCh PDT in the department of urology in IPGME&R, Kolkata where he has attained extensive hands-on training during this period in all the surgical procedures in urology and also assisted in over 100 renal transplant including both living and cadaveric donor.
He graduated as top of his class. In the consequent year, he passed DNB Genitourinary surgery from the National Board of Examinations. After completing his MCh he has been practicing in Guwahati from the year 2019 as consultant urology.
He is the Head of the Department of urology at Ayursundra Hospital Guwahati where he has been doing surgeries for renal, ureteric and bladder stones, minimally invasive surgeries for prostate gland, advanced laparoscopy, uro-oncology and paediatric urology. He has special interest in male sexual health and urethral stricture diseases.
