Dr. Barun Kumar is a consultant urologist currently practising in Guwahati. He specialises in endourology, laparoscopic surgery, urethral reconstruction surgery, andrology, and renal transplant. He provides diagnosis and treatment for urinary, kidney, prostate, and male health problems.

His Story
He completed his MBBS from Medical College Kolkata in 2012, followed by MS in General Surgery from IPGMER, Kolkata in 2016. He was awarded the UMA RANI SAHA Gold Medal in 2016 and was also recognised as a zonal winner and national third-rank holder in the TYSA Young Scholar Award.
He later joined as MCh (PDT) in the Department of Urology at IPGMER, Kolkata, where he received extensive hands-on training in urological procedures. During this period, he assisted in over 100 renal transplants, including both living and cadaveric donors.
After completing his MCh, he successfully cleared the DNB Genitourinary Surgery examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations. Since 2019, he has been practising in Guwahati as a consultant urologist.
He is currently the Head of the Department of Urology at IUKD, Guwahati, where he treats renal, ureteric, and bladder stone conditions, performs minimally invasive procedures for prostate conditions, advanced laparoscopy, uro-oncology, and paediatric urology. He has a special interest in male sexual health and urethral stricture diseases.
